Dalmatians- Why do people think they are stupid/skatty?
Every time I tell someone I have a Dalmatian I get the same response ‘Oooh beautiful breed but they’re so skatty!’. And the number of people that think Dalmatians are thick is amazing! My dog mastered all of the commands I taught him with lightning speed and can remember where something has been hidden days after he last saw it. Plus I’ve seen my dog actually try and teach other dogs how to play certain games like ‘hide and seek’. Sure they need a lot of exercise and can be very stubborn but that’s not stupidity! I know some Dalmatians that have excelled at obedience training and agility, and they make excellent watch/guard dogs, so where has this bad reputation come from?
It can’t be due to hearing problems as my dog is deaf in one ear and you can’t tell except by looking at his BAER hearing test reulsts.
