Being a dog owner for more than 20 years showed me the importance of dog training. Two of my dogs had accidentaly died hit by cars so I began to value the concept of training your dog not only for safety – the most common thought when people thinks about dog training – but for security and protect your dog from every danger the city might be.
When it comes to dog obedience training, the “recall” command is quite important. In fact, some dog trainers would argue that it is the most important of all the commands. This is the process by which the owner calls back the dog, and asks the dog to return to them. Now, if you’re training the dog for the first time, it is likely that the dog will not respond. When this happens, the owner should not become upset or punish the dog. The thing the owner must perform is a correction. The owner should always approach the dog, and they should not punish the dog under any circumstances.
The sit command is the most popular and most used dog training command in the dog behaviour training world, and for good reason, the sit command is the first command most dogs learn and is the basis for all other commands to be built upon.
Your dog should be taught the sit command as soon as possible. It is the first step in obedience for your dog and should be taught as soon as your dog is comfortable with his/her name being called and is responding well to it.
For quite a long time now, dogs have been considered an important member of the human family. The time and effort that we spend caring for our dogs have always translated into lifelong loyalties and friendships forged between us and our furry friends. No wonder the dog has been called “man’s best friend”.
Owning a dog can be a rewarding and happy experience for the entire family. Deciding to own a dog should be an important decision, a matter that cannot be taken superficially, simply because a dog is not just a furry being, an amusing present, or a fun diversion.
I would like to get a dog but I cannot currently, circumstances wont allow it. But since I have never had owned a dog myself I don’t even know how to teach a dog how to sit! Where can I go to learn dog training without having a dog to train?
